We would like to introduce ourselves as the friction material division of rane group of companies head quartered in chennai. We specialize in manufacture of steering systems(power& manual), friction materials, valves etc. The total turnover of our group is us$ 146 mio in the fiscal year 2002-2003& the turnover of rbl during the same is us$31 mio.

The friction material division has 3 plants located in the southern states of india with a total workforce of 825 people. We manufacture brake linings for HCV, lcv& passenger cars, disc pads for two wheelers, passenger cars, suvs& muvs, composite brake blocks for railways and clutch facings(moulded& cord woven) for hcvs& lcvs. Our product range offers asbestos free& asbestos based material as well.

We supply passenger car disc pads for export applications by suzuki(wagon r)& tata motors(city rover in uk). And we have sold more than 80,000 pads for scorpio? From mahindra& mahindra, currently the largest selling suv in india. Recently we were approved as the only source for disc pads by general motors india for its suv GM tavera(to be launched during mid 2004).

We also export to uk, USA, australia, new zealand, dubai, kuwait, saudi arabia, singapore, indonesia, turkey, sri lanka, bangladesh& africa. We would like to highlight that rane is an OEM supplier to daimler chrysler - indonesia& york trailers - singapore for HCV applications. We have obtained the ecer90 certification(for ford focus) for aftermarket applications to promote exports to europe and are currently on other applications also.
