Balgownie Co. headquartered in Hong Kong, was established in 1981 as the marketing and distribution arm of Hua Yue Textiles of Taiwan. Hua Yue Textiles, as the largest open-ended cotton yarn spinner in Taiwan, and a large producer of PTA and EG synthetic yarn products, had relied on the expertise of Balgownie to market these yarns in Hong Kong. In addition, the company was founded as a weaver of denim and polyester fabrics at four Hong Kong based facilities. Balgownie has since diversified into a global provider of a wide range of wool and fine Chinese and Mongolian cashmere products. These range from fiber to yarns to nicely finished fabric. Balgownie's expertise is relied on by many of the leading cashmere and wool companies in China.
